But quiet reverence is its prevailing tone, and in the end that seems thoroughly at odds with anything Williams ever intended.

There is an Indian adaptation of the play, filmed in the Malayalam language. The movie titled Akale meaning At a Distancereleased inis directed by Shyamaprasad. The Iranian film Here Without Me is also an adaptation of the play, in a contemporary Iranian setting.

The version is not known to survive but recordings of the other two are in circulation. The recording is now available in the form of audio app.
